This department conducts education and research on harvesting marine resources in sustainable and systematic ways through utilization of ships, while conserving marine ecosystems. The department also conducts education and research on the fundamental disciplines, various theories, and applied technologies necessary for advancing the fisheries industry into the 21th century.
  Students who graduate from this department and take up further study on Navigation and Fishing in the Advanced Course, can obtain certification as a ship's officer and enter careers as ship's captain on international voyages.
